Miniaturization is a driving need for future electronics pieces of equipment. This evolution, true whatever the application, leads Exxelia Technologies (ex-Eurofarad) to develop a brand new high voltage ceramic capacitors range based on a new dielectric material named C48X, combining most of the advantages of NPO and X7R dielectrics.
Compared to X7R material, C48X dielectric allows to get the same capacitance values under working voltage with the unrivaled advantage of a very low dissipation factor (less than 5.10-4). Besides, it can also withstand very high dV/dt, up to 10kV/μs, which makes it the solution of choice for pulse and fast charge/discharge applications. Thus capacitors with C48X dielectric appear to be ideally suited for power applications where heat dissipation may be detrimental to performances and reliability.
Exxelia Technologies’ capacitors based on the C48X material have been developed from 200V to 5kV with chip sizes ranging from 1812 to 16080, allowing a maximum capacitance value of 10μF 200V (10 times more than with an NPO ceramic). The standard stacked versions are proposed with a maximum capacitance value of 47μF 200V.
Regarding the mounting of these capacitors, many configurations are possible to be compatible either with surface mounting or through-hole mounting. All these versions can be suitable for space use and can be designed in order to avoid any whisker growth risk (10% min lead in all tin-lead alloys used). The introduction of the C48X range in the EPPL (European Space Agency Preferred Parts List) for space is in progress for sizes 0603 to 6560 from 100V to 1kV up to size 1210 and up to 5kV until the size 6560).
SPACE & MILITARY GRADE PASSIVES AT CMSE - BOOTH # B13 -

Two new ranges of MIL-qualified tantalum capacitors: MIL39006/22 & MIL39006/25 The recently introduced ranges of MIL-qualified tantalum capacitors will be showcased on the company booth (B13). MIL 39006/22 and MIL 39006/25 respectively equivalent to CLR79 and CLR81 types feature hermetically sealed cylindrical tantalum cases and axial leads are available in T1, T2 T3 and T4 cases with extended capacitance and voltage ratings. MIL 39006/22 is qualified for voltages from 6V to 125V and provides from 1200µF @ 6V to 56 µF @ 125V. MIL 39006/25 is qualified for voltages from 25V to 125V and delivers from 680µF @ 25V to 82 µF @ 125V. Both ranges combine high energy density with a large operating temperature range of -55°C - +125°C and H vibrations and shocks resistance. Alsic 20G, Aluminum Electrolytic capacitors with large operating temperatures Alsic 20G is a range of radial leaded aluminum electrolytic capacitors for typical use in military and aerospace high frequency switch-mode power supplies requiring advanced performance under all operating conditions. Alsic 20G operational rated life is 8,000 hours at rated voltage and 105°C, and provides from 330µF @ 500V to 80 000μF @16V. The range features ruggedized design with insulating aluminum case and tin coated leads. With capacitance stability at high temperature, low inductance and impedance, competitive ESR and high ripple current, these capacitors are perfectly adapted for mission-critical applications. C48X dielectric: NPO and X7R advantages combined Under working voltage, C48X dielectric provides equivalent capacitance values to an X7R material with the advantage of a very low dissipation factor (less than 5.10-4). It can also withstand very high dV/dt, up to 10kV/µs which makes it perfect for pulse and charge/discharge applications for firing units. Exxelia’s C48X capacitors, available from 200V to 5kV with EIA sizes from 1812 to 16080, are ideally suited for power applications where heat dissipation may be detrimental to performances and reliability, such as 400Hz Aircraft, Ignition systems, and Space, or as Precision/filtering capacitance in thermally challenged environment for AC or DC voltage.

Felsic HV, long lifetime and high voltage screw terminal The Felsic HV family of aluminum electrolytic screw terminal capacitors provides great performances in energy density and ultra-long lifetime. For example products can withstand 8 000 hours at 105°C under high values of current which makes them the perfect choice to overcome railway constraints. The family also has one of the lowest ESR for aluminum capacitors, less than 10m0hms in most cases. Products are available for voltages from 160 to 450 Vdc, and offer capacitance values from 1500μF up to 47 000μF. Thus the family is a good compromise between reliability and compacity, with for example 47 000μF @ 160V in a 90x200mm volume. Cost-effective common-mode chokes qualified for aerospace Designed and qualified for aerospace, the TCM series is available in a through-hole package for horizontal and vertical mounting. TCM common-mode chokes are offered with inductances from 0.7 to 47mH under rated currents from 0.3A to 4A, and thoroughly tested by a dielectric withstanding strength at 1500VAC. Ultra low ESR, high RF power and high self-resonant frequency The new NHB series is a complete range of MLCC based on NPO dielectric material providing a very high Self Resonant Frequency and limiting the parasite Parallel Resonant Frequencies. The series is available in 1111 size with capacitance ranging from 0.3pF to 100pF. NHB series offers excellent performance for RF power applications at high temperature up to 175°C and at 500 VDC. The lowest ESR is obtained by combining highly conductive metal electrodes and proprietary of new NPO low loss rugged dielectrics. NHB series particularly fits for high power and high frequency applications such as: cellular base station equipment, broadband wireless service, point to point / multipoint radios and broadcasting equipment.
